About Us
Blairmains Farm Shop & Coffee Bothy is a family-run destination in Blairlogie, just a short drive from Stirling. Since opening our doors in June 2001, we have been proud to serve fresh homemade food, great coffee and a well-stocked farm shop filled with quality produce, gifts and everyday favourites.
Our Story
Blairmains has been part of the Logan family for more than a century, a working farm rooted at the foot of the Ochil Hills since 1904. For generations, the rhythms of daily life were shaped by milking, calving, and the steady work of tending the land. The farm was home to the Manor Powis Holstein herd, one of the oldest registered Holstein herds in Britain, with origins stretching back over 80 years to the original Powis herd recognised by the British Friesian Society.
For John Logan, farming wasn’t just a job, it was a way of life. He milked his first cow at four years old and continued almost daily for more than four decades. Blairmains was a true family farm in every sense: early mornings, long days, and a deep pride in producing honest, quality food.
But by the late 1990s, Scotland’s dairy industry was changing. Tightening margins, rising costs, and national challenges such as BSE and foot‑and‑mouth disease placed enormous pressure on small family farms. The Logans faced a crossroads: adapt, diversify, or risk losing the legacy built over generations.
A New Direction: The Birth of Blairmains Farm Shop (2001)
In June 2001, the family made a bold decision to transform Blairmains into something new, a farm shop and coffee house that would bring people together, celebrate local produce, and secure the future of the farm.
The old dairy buildings were lovingly repurposed. The calf shed became a warm, welcoming coffee shop. The milking parlour became a bright farm shop filled with Scottish produce, deli favourites, gifts, and quality wood furniture.
The vision was simple: great coffee, hearty homemade food, and a farm shop packed with local goodness, all delivered with genuine family hospitality.
From day one, the response was overwhelming. Blairmains quickly became a favourite stop for locals from Stirling, Clackmannanshire, Dollar, Alloa, and beyond. What began as a diversification project grew into a thriving community hub.
By 2007, demand was so strong that the Coffee Bothy Express opened on site, helping serve the ever‑growing number of customers who had made Blairmains part of their weekly routine.
Growing With Purpose
Over the years, Blairmains has grown from a team of 8 staff to more than 60, but the heart of the business has never changed. It remains proudly family‑run, rooted in the values passed down through generations: hard work, quality, fairness, and a warm welcome for everyone.
Many customers visit several times a week. Many have been coming since the day the doors opened. Blairmains has become a place where people gather, for coffee, for lunch, for gifts, for a chat, or simply because it feels like home.
The Next Chapter: The Farmhouse
In recent years, Blairmains has continued to evolve, and the newest chapter is one the family is especially proud of: The Farmhouse.
The Farmhouse is a beautifully restored holiday home on the Blairmains estate, a place designed to offer guests the same warmth, comfort, and attention to detail that define the farm shop and coffee house. Thoughtfully renovated, it blends modern luxury with the character and charm of a traditional Scottish farmhouse.
It’s a space for families, friends, and visitors from near and far to relax, reconnect, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings of Blairlogie. Guests can wake up to views of the Ochils, wander down to the farm shop for breakfast, explore the countryside, and return to a cosy home filled with thoughtful touches.
Just like the farm shop, The Farmhouse is built on the Logan family’s belief that hospitality should feel genuine, generous, and personal.
Blairmains Today
From a dairy farm in 1904 to a bustling farm shop, coffee house, and now a welcoming holiday retreat, Blairmains continues to grow while staying true to its roots.
The mission remains the same: to offer quality, value, and a heartfelt welcome, whether you’re popping in for coffee, stocking up on local produce, or staying with us at The Farmhouse.
Blairmains is still a family farm at heart. Still local. Still proud. And still evolving, one generation at a time.
Sustainability
Sustainability is an important part of the future at Blairmains. Our on-site solar farm allows us to generate renewable energy at the property, helping us reduce our environmental impact while supporting the long-term running of the business.
